Kindergarten registration 2027/2028 via the Kita-Navigator

The municipality of Dahlem informs parents and guardians about registration for the 2027/2028 kindergarten year. Pre-registration is done online via the Kita-Navigator of the district of Euskirchen; up to three kindergartens can be selected. Places for the 2027/2028 kindergarten year will already be allocated from November 2026. Anyone needing a place from 1 August 2027 should pre-register their child now. “Mit Tatkraft” ideas contest: prize money for Rhineland mining region projects

North Rhine-Westphalia’s State Agency for Nature, Environment and Climate Protection (LANUK) awards about €1 million in prize money each year through the “Mit Tatkraft” ideas contest for projects serving the common good. Each round more than 150 projects receive €5,000 or €10,000; some prizes are decided by public online voting. Eligible applicants include adults whose main residence is in the Rhineland mining region as well as associations, initiatives and social organisations; municipalities and for-profit companies are excluded. The project area includes, among others, the district of Euskirchen. Applications can be submitted from 1 October to 30 November 2026 via an online form at www.mit-tatkraft.de.

Schmidtheim artificial turf pitch ready for the new season

After more than ten years of intensive use, the artificial turf pitch at Schmidtheim stadium remains in very good condition according to the manufacturer. Continuous professional maintenance by SG Dahlem-Schmidtheim has played a major role. During the season break, the municipal administration arranged intensive care and servicing of the roughly 6,000-square-metre playing surface and replaced about 30 square metres of turf in one goal area. In the coming weeks, the team changing rooms are also to be fitted with new player benches. All SG Dahlem-Schmidtheim teams benefit, including many children and young people and the first men’s team after promotion to the Bezirksliga.

Dog owners: please take full waste bags home

In the municipality of Dahlem, the municipal works depot has now set up 22 dog stations with waste bags. Even so, disposal points cannot be placed on every corner. The municipality therefore asks dog owners to bring bags from home and to dispose of full bags at home or in waste bins. Residents increasingly report bags deliberately discarded in the landscape, especially at the edges of towns. With numerous dog stations, the municipality supports dog owners.

Iris Guder runs for mayor in Dahlem

Iris Guder wants to become mayor of the municipality of Dahlem for the coming term. She lives with her husband Ralf in Schmidtheim; their two sons are already grown up. She has worked in public administration for more than 30 years and currently works at the youth welfare office of the city of Gelsenkirchen, where she helps manage around 200 public playgrounds. She previously trained as an industrial clerk and has been active for about 20 years with Soroptimist International for women’s rights, education and equality. Her priorities include greater public participation, better conditions for voluntary work, and a family-friendly Dahlem.
